DJs cut away vocals and blended EBM, acid house, new beat and industrial records into continuous sequences. A stable genre did not yet exist.

The sound moves from DJ practice to deliberately produced genre: layered acid lines, extended melodies and narrative arrangements reach records and compilations.
OPEN DOSSIER04 / 1996–1999The network goes global
Local scenes connect through festivals, distributors, email lists and travel. Portugal, Australia, Central Europe and the Americas become visible parts of the map.
OPEN DOSSIER05 / 2000–2005Goa splits into many psytrances
Psytrance becomes a family. Full-on increases impact, progressive opens space, minimal strips ornament and dark takes the night into denser territory.
OPEN DOSSIER06 / 2006–2012The festival becomes a temporary city
Large gatherings stop being only line-ups: they become complete environments of architecture, art, knowledge, healing, sustainability and international networks.
OPEN DOSSIER07 / 2013–2019Micro-scenes become audible
Streaming, Bandcamp, social networks and digital production let small languages sustain international audiences without depending on one capital.
OPEN DOSSIER08 / 2020–2026The culture returns; the archive becomes urgent
After the pandemic interruption, the dancefloor returns with every era coexisting. At the same time, the first generation ages and platforms bury the past.

The strongest research insists on this point: Goa was a birthplace, not an eternal template. Every territory rebuilt the music through its geography, laws, travel and relationships.
